Resorts of the Caribbean
It’s 10 degrees outside, the streets are covered with snow, and you’ve got a cold. Now’s your chance to spend some time with Resorts of the Caribbean (Straight Line Medium). The main screen has a list of the 125 resorts included on the disc; you can sort by Name, Location, Units, or Price. There’s a voice-over that can be turned off once you understand how to navigate. Make a selection and click on the Detail button to get photos, a short Description, Rates, and Features (pool, beach, kitchens, etc). You can print out pertinent information or add the resort to your list of favorites. A map of the island shows you – roughly – where the resort is located, and offers a chance to jump to a screen with regional information, which occasionally features a video overview of the island. Like Villas of the Caribbean (reviewed in Vol. 1, No. 5), this CD-ROM is produced in conjunction with a travel agency, Island Hideways. Clicking the Reservation button brings up a promotional page for the company and their 800 number, but there’s nothing that compels you to use them. Once you’ve done your research you can take your business elsewhere. Both these discs are first-rate tools for planning a tropical vacation or just dreaming about one.
