America’s Funniest Home Videos: Lights! Camera! Interaction!
America’s Funniest Home Videos: Lights! Camera! Interaction! (Graphix Zone) has only two things going for it. First, Bob Sagat isn’t in it. Second, just like the TV show, the CD-ROM has lots of video of people falling down, burning, humiliating and injuring themselves – all of which can be extremely funny. It’s hard to underestimate the glee that can be induced by watching awful things happen to other people. Beyond that, there’s nothing here that’s worth your attention. The “interactive” part of the disc allows you to link up several videos in succession, and then view them. There are also a number of “scripts” available which you can choose to narrate your selections. One, for instance, is a take-off on Star Trek – you get an un-animated “frame” around the videos and some absolutely inane faux-Trek commentary (Sagat must have helped here) and sound effects that are supposed to link your selected videos together. Never mind that the commentary has nothing to do with the videos – it’s interactive! And, of course, you can post your “creations” to the AFHV area on Compuserve to trade with other sad sacks who have nothing better to do. Our advice? Stick to the TV show.
