The Chase: Reading With Peter Rabbit

The Chase: Reading With Peter Rabbit (AIMS – ages 4-8) is not very child-friendly. Designed to look like a book with a small video window embedded on the left hand page, this program requires some skill to navigate. For instance, you must click on the left hand edge of the book to get back to the table of contents. How about a simple arrow or graphical icon that little kids would recognize? Once you run a video, you need to click on it to get other functions to work. This is far too complicated for little ones. So are many of the activities. To start, instructions are written rather than narrated, limiting the audience. The “simple” version offers some exercises suitable for 4- and 5-year-olds, but the “complex” section, with exercises involving parts of speech, may be too complex for the rest of the recommended age group.
