New Zealand Birds and How to Photograph Them: A Multimedia Presentation
If you’re still pining for a bird guide, try New Zealand Birds and How to Photograph Them: A Multimedia Presentation (The Electric Book Co./ Teamwork Multi Media). This could be used as a template for the Audobon or books by Roger Tory Peterson. Designed with a no-frills, Windows-style interface, it’s straightforward, fast, easy to navigate and easy to search. The program makes no attempt to entertain; it’s a reference tool, plain and simple, but it uses the medium to good advantage. There is information on 322 birds with 157 illustrations. A few editing lapses in the Preface and Introduction don’t detract from the strengths of this CD-ROM. It’s a good, solid job.
