Imagination Express: Destination Rain Forest

Imagination Express: Destination Rain Forest (Edmark – ages 6-12) follows Castles and Neighborhood in this series of interactive storybook programs. Using the Panamanian rain forest as a backdrop, you select a scene, add stickers of people, animals, and objects, write text, and add your own sounds and music or use those the program provides. The stickers re-size themselves depending on where you place them, so that perspective is maintained. This is cool. If you’re short on inspiration, you can use the “Story Idea” section or the “Fact Book” (with information on the rain forest and the Kuna people who live there) to add depth to your writing. The weakest part of this program is the limited graphical functions. You’re stuck with what’s supplied. Most kids find adding their own drawings, along with their own sounds, a fun way to individualize their work.
