Fine Artist (Microsoft Co., ages 8 & up) is right up there with Kid Pix Studio in the “Best Of” category. McZee, “the spirit that inspired all great artists,” introduces you to the program. Maggie, an animated cartoon character, guides you through the various floors of a virtual home. Each floor is a studio for a different type of art project. Once you choose your project, you’ll be offered more options. You can make cartoons, stickers, paintings, and drawings; you can animate them, and add sound effects ranging from disgusting to silly. There are many advantages to having so many things packed onto one CD-ROM, the main one being that you’ll have a hard time getting bored.
