The Doctors Book of Home Remedies: The Premier Edition
The Doctors Book of Home Remedies: The Premier Edition (Compton’s New Media) is a CD-ROM that knows its place. While it’s not the most comprehensive health title available, it offers a wealth of useful information. You’ll find common sense remedies for not very serious problems (hangovers, poor memory, flatulence) and a flirtation with heavier topics, all presented with a pleasant, if not especially cunning, sense of humor. But avoid the “personal checkup” section; it’s just plain silly. Name, age, weight, alcohol consumption, smoking habits, and an active or non-active lifestyle is just not enough information to justify the summation of your health status which the program then provides. To find your way around, you’ve got a potent interface with toolbars and icons which allow you access to the information and the multimedia presentations in many different ways. This is a handy disc to have around, especially in homes with children.
