Romeo Music International’s Wonders of the Musical World
Romeo Music International’s Wonders of the Musical World (Chestnut) makes their Encyclopedia look like the best music CD-ROM ever. This title gives new meaning to the word “dull.” Desperate to make it seem more exciting, they rely heavily on exclamation points, as in: “These are Tubas!” “You are watching Louis Armstrong!” The content is so shallow you could break your neck. Under “symphony” you find the following entry: “a large group of musicians that play together!” with the added note that “it contains so many people that they have to have assigned seats!” There are two interfaces, one for “little kids” with cartoony icons, and one for “big kids” with photo icons. Supposedly there are more hyperlinks in the big kids’ interface, but the difference seemed minimal. But then, the whole program is minimal and is to be avoided.
