In Storybook Maker (Conter Software – ages 4-9) you can construct your story using supplied images, or create your own. If you want to use ready-mades, you browse through a scrapbook where pictures are displayed randomly, or use a rolodex-type system of choosing them alphabetically. Neither way lets you see more than one at a time, or lets you see them arranged by subject groups. This makes for slow going. Once you choose background and images, you can add text. The computer, using a voice synthesizer, will pronounce any dialogue you write, even if it doesn’t know the word. This is really the best part of the program. You can find everything else, bigger and better, in many other titles.
